ABOUT ANTHONY

Anthony Rota was first elected to the 38th Parliament as the Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming on June 28, 2004, and re-elected on January 23, 2006 and October 14, 2008. Prior to his election of the House of Commons, Anthony worked for the National Research Council.

Anthony holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Masters of Business Administration. Prior to his election to public office, Anthony has been an entrepreneur in the private sector in finance, real estate, and retail. As well as having a strong business background, Anthony has been commited to his community by serving on many local boards, organizations, and volunteer groups in various capacities.

Currently, Anthony is Chair of the National Liberal Caucus, and is Vice-Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology. He is also an Associate Committee Member for Finance, International Trade, National Defence, as well as Transport, Infrastructure and Communities.

Anthony is the Treasurer of the Canada-Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group, and an active Member of several other Parliamentary Friendship Groups and Associations. 

Anthony has served previously as the Liberal Critic for FedNor, Chair for the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs and Chair of the Ontario Liberal Caucus. Anthony has served as a Member of the Standing Committees on the Environment & Sustainable Development, National Defence & Veteran Affairs and Agriculture

Fluent in English, French, Italian, and Spanish, Anthony was born on May 15, 1961 in North Bay. Anthony is married to Chantal Piché-Rota and they have one child, Samantha. .
